Posted by sriramchewsthefat on May 27, 2009

Hi, I write this post on Upcoming cricket schedules. The cricket lovers got to watch another T20 tournament Within less than 2 weeks after the IPL,.This time its not a domestic T20 cricket. Its a World T20 Tournament which was going to be held in ENGLAND from june 5 . There are 12 teams participating in this year’s tournament. These teams divided into 4 groups.so every group is having 3 teams.

PREVIEWS:

Group A consists of   INDIA , BANGLADESH,IRELAND

BCCI

2007 T20 world cup winning team

INDIA are the last time champions of this trophy in 2007.They have a very strong team this time  also with almost all the players are in good form, because they just now played IPL season2 in SA.players to watch out for are YUVRAJ,Y.PATHAN in batting and RP SINGH and H.SINGH in bowling. So they want to retain their trophy. One of the probables to win this trophy ,but cricket is a funny game..anything can happen!!!

BCBashraful

BANGLADESH last time played well in 2007 edition(inagural) in SA  beating W.I and moved into super 8.This time their  opponents areINDIA & IRELAND.Probably they will qualify for super8 beating IRELAND.They have good hitters like ASHRAFUL,TAMIM and will be backed by decent bowling and fielding.

ireland

winning team agst pakistan

IRELAND is the team we have to watch out for.they can upset any team on their day.No one will forget the day they beat pakistan in 2007 world cup. This team can play well if they played to their potential, and the condition also favors their type of cricket.Let’s wait and see their performance. This is their DEBUT tournament.they not played in 2007 edition.

Group B consists of  ENGLAND,NETHERLANDS/HOLLAND and PAKISTAN

ECB

english team

ENGLAND last time knocked out of the tournament in super8 in 2007 tournament. But this time they are one of the strong contendors to bag this trophy. They have a very good allround side and this time around thay have home advantage .They have left out  ‘FREDDIEFlintoff from the squad because of injury.

pcb

shahid afridi

PAKISTAN played only less amount of cricket compared to other regular nations in past 15 months.the Question now arise is ,can they repeat the wonderful performance like 2007 Tournament in SOUTHAFRICA?,because they ended up as a Runner-up last time lost only to INDIA(2 matches, one in final and in league phase in bowlout)in the whole  tournament. They have good players to compete but all depends on how well SHAHID AFRIDI plays on that day.Hope he and his team plays well.

HollandNannes

NETHERLANDS/HOLLAND is the third team in this group. This is their DEBUT tournament, last time in SA they are not qualified for playing in league phase itself.so this is a good oppurtunity for their players to perform against top quality sides. But this is the beauty of cricket, anything can happen. They have international bowler in their rank now,DIRK NANNES,who on his day can win the match on his own.But it all depends on how well their batting performs on that day.

GROUP C comprises of AUSTRALIA,WEST INDIES, SRILANKA.

symmo and watson

ACB

AUSTRALIA is one of the real contendors of the tournament ,is really very strong side. But this is the toughest group of the lot compared  to the other groups. They have very good bowling attack with BRETT LEE returning from injury who will be accompanying with N.BRACKEN,M.JOHNSON forming a potent bowling attack.Their batting also strengthened by return of  allrounders SYMONDS and WATSON.probable finalists, but we have to wait and see how they performs.

wicb

WEST INDIES is having a side which can beat any team on their day.But it all depends on one man,GAYLE.He can change the match withichris gaylen a space of  2 overs, such was his power. He can hit the ball long and had the record of scoring a  first century in T20 internationals in 2007 edition in SA.But they are heavily depending on SARWAN ,GAYLE and CHANDERPAUL in their batting.Bowling was their weaker link, but they can won any team on their day.So beware of  WINDIES!!

srilankan team logo

SRILANKA is having a side ,which is a good blend of youth and experience.Their bowling was their strength with MALINGA,MENDIS,MURALI,they are not having big hitters like other teams in their batting , except Sanath all others are classy players. They are a good side and once they get into the groove ,no one can stop them.jayasuriya

GROUP D consists of SOUTH AFRICA,NEW ZEALAND and SCOTLAND

SA kallis

SOUTH AFRICA is always having a strong allround team ever since they return to international cricket in 1992 .They have good allrounders  A.MORKEL,V.D.MERWE and J.KALLIS in their squad. This will help the balance of the side,by adding additional batsman or bowlers. All they need this time is just a ‘little bit of luck’ to win the competition.SA is one of the most unluckiest teams when it comes to big tournaments.

NZCB

danny

NEW ZEALAND is one of the team ,always performs well in big tournaments until the semifinal matches of those tournaments. They only won  only 1 international tournament(ICC CHAMPIONS TROPHY IN 2001 in kenya).last tournament also they lost to pakistan in semifinals. They are having good allround team this time around.Players like RYDER,TAYLOR,McCULLUM can change the tempo of the batting at will.Bowling depends on flight and guile of  DANIEL VETTORI.If they found out the way to thwart the   ‘SEMI FINAL SYNDROME’,then they can really won the tournament. For me THE DARK HORSE of this tournament.

scotland

SCOTLAND is one of the team which doesn’t have any big names in their squad. But this is team sport,if they played well as a team they can make some upsets. This tournament is going to start from 5-06-09 to 21-06-09 in England. The complete fixtures of the tournament is listed below.

Hi da Sriram. This post is huge da. Its good to see you in the world of blogging. One suggestion from me. Try to keep your post a bit short because some may not like to read big posts. So try to reduce its length. It is nice but still if you reduce the size of the post, it will be better 🙂 Keep up the good work da.

Thats a good aggregation. I shall bookmark this page, to keep track of the tournament.

I feel Indian team players are natural favourites to win the T20 world cup because almost all the 15/16 people on the squad are in playing form after the IPL tournament. The IPL i feel has given almost all members of the Indian thorough practice. NOt many other countries would have been able to give such rigorous practice session, that too to each and every one of the players.

    What do you think?
